About the Author

Angela Montalvo is a U.S. Army veteran and Arabic linguist who graduated from the Defense Language Institute - Foreign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterey, CA. After leaving the military, Angela continued her education seeking a degree in Applied Linguistics. When forced to quit school due to G.I. Bill benefits expiring, Angela began organizing with the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. She served as the first tri-chair of the Nebraska Poor People’s Campaign (2020-2023). She attended the Veteran’s Organizing Institute in 2023 and is currently co-chair of Common Defense's Women Veteran's Caucus. She lives in Ogallala, Nebraska with her husband, Moises, and their two teenagers. ​
